Many people ask us all the time how did we get where we are. We have been hosting poetry shows around the Birmingham area since 2015, hopping from venue to venue. The last venue that we worked with had left a bad taste in our mouth. Most venues don’t understand the spirituality of the arts, especially that of spoken word. Some don’t even pay the poets fairly because they believe that “exposure should be enough.” Because of this, we went and looked for our own venue to call home for us and other artists. As a result, Majesty Lounge had its grand opening on May 26, 2018.
